Driving Change: Empowering Youth for Environmental Sustainability

Updated: May 3

The need for collective action has never been more urgent as we stand on the brink of unprecedented environmental challenges. In line with this mission, during the upcoming United Nations Civil Society Conference in Nairobi, IVECA will host a virtual panel session focused on "Empowering Youth through Digital Global Citizenship Education (GCED) for Environmental Sustainability" on May 9 at 9:00 AM EDT. This virtual event is open to all, providing an inclusive platform for participation from around the globe.

The session will highlight the importance of fostering worldwide solidarity among multi-stakeholders and empathy among the youth, leveraging digital platforms for global cooperation. Through year-long projects tackling environmental issues such as greenhouse gas emissions and plastic waste management, youth changemakers will share their cross-border problem-solving journeys and interculturally keen approaches to building a sustainable future.

Our panelists from the government, academia, NGOs and private sector bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the table. Representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives, they are committed to shaping policies and initiatives that integrate GCED into international environmental sustainability efforts. From youth empowerment to harnessing the power of business for social good, our speakers embody the spirit of innovation and collaboration.

As we convene to explore collaborative strategies and policy recommendations, the session aims to expand the impactful coalition for integrating digitally facilitated GCED with the global endeavor to create a more sustainable environment and a more equitable world.

Join us on our journey towards a greener Earth and a brighter future for generations to come. Together, let's pave the way for global and sustainable progress.
