On the 75th anniversary of the Charter of the United Nations, The Committee on Teaching about the United Nations (CTAUN) and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations co-sponsored a conference entitled “War No More.” Centered on a peaceful future, the conference celebrated the role of Global Citizenship Education in moving towards a culture of peace. The 21st CTAUN Conference at the United Nations is dedicated to the significant role of educators to achieving and sustaining a peaceful society.

In the UN Trusteeship Chamber on February 28, 2020, Dr. Eunhee Jung represented IVECA International Virtual Schooling during the “Peace Education and Transformative Education” panel by promoting empathy, compassion, solidarity, and cooperation to take action against conflict. Dr. Jung promoted transformative education as a way to reach peaceful relations in societies for a better humanity. She emphasized transformation of individuals' mindset towards compassion to one another, which will genuinely guide them to act on everyday life issues.

The conference was further attended by speakers focused around conversations on “Creating Peace,” “New Technologies,” “Women, Peace, and Security,” “Disarmament,” and “World Peace through Law: Force of Law, not the Law of Force.” The conference speakers elaborated on the necessity for a state of peace throughout the world to ensure equitable education opportunities to children and youth. Various speakers accounted for the situation throughout the world and how conflicts can interfere with fruitful educational development and security to the most vulnerable populations, namely children. The goal of the conference is to call for the full adoption of the UN charter in an effort to end all war across the globe.
